Ayiana in a Nutshell
Ayiana is an alumni of the University of Rochester. As a part of the class of 2022, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English: Creative Writing, cum laude.
During her time at the University of Rochester, she participated in a plethora of internships to further her librarianship skills. She was awarded the Dean’s Library Service Award for her work at the River Campus Libraries.
Ayiana is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Information and Library Science from the University at Buffalo, with an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2024.
While completing her Master’s, she will also be a Graduate Assistant for a research project studying the retention of BIPOC Librarians.
She also reestablished and was elected president of the Information Science Graduate Student Association at UB.
She is serving as Lead Researcher for a Carnegie Whitney Grant Project, “Academic Libraries’ Retention of BIPOC-Identifying Librarians in the Field of Library Information Sciences through Mentorship: A Guide for Managers and Supervisors,” under the supervision of Dr. Elizabeth Dill.
She is also a User Experience intern at the University of Rochester River Campus Libraries over the summer. Her time will be spent developing a social media strategy and content for the RCL LinkedIn page and gaining skills in information literacy instruction and training.
Ayiana plans to work in an academic library setting, do some research, and hopefully publish a YA book someday.
